Life without traffic lights

We are back. Settled and ready to go again.

Life without traffic lights

It seems like less time has passed since I published the last post here. Time in itself is a stretchy concept. Since coming back from our 4 month exploration of Mayan ruins in Mexico, Maja and me started to find a more permanent location to centre our lives around our hobbies, jobs and beliefs. Still, we are to travel, but longed for one place which we can call our own. Finally, we settled for an old stone house on the island of Brac. Since moving here, time has stretched for even longer. This is an island without traffic lights. A life without traffic lights. There is nobody to stop you, nobody to give you a yellow light. In cities, even if it is always a green light on the post, it still feels stressful. Without lights, it becomes easier. A life where you can drive confidently knowing when exactly you can arrive somewhere and enjoying the ride at the same time.

The island provides a canvas which one can decide to paint in many different ways. We decided to focus on building our strength by spending more time climbing boulders and playing tennis, and occasionally taking a cold plunge into 15 degree celsius sea. After a while, it felt like a great foundation to find more focus for work and writing. We have also started to eat more fish and vegetables which seems to contribute to clarity and calmness of mind.

We do plan to start rebuilding the old house which will keep us busy along side with our jobs. This will request even more strength and focus. We also spend more time with our parents who are helping us with their advices and warm energy. It seems that having an old stone house in the seaside village has a sort of communal spirit. Our dear friends are already ‘booking’ time to spend a week with us, cooking on the open fire, co-working, creating in our atelier. We bought the house from the old painter who had a small atelier in the garden which he spent his life working on his pieces.

Overall, the feelings are increasingly positive. We will keep you informed. Stay well.
